The Science Bits:

Benefits of Green Lipped Mussel Powder:

✔ Long term support of healthy joints and tendons

✔ Reduces discomfort for pets with joint or tendon complaints*

✔ Rich in amino acids and glucosamine

✔ Trusted by thousands of customers

✔ 100% natural and without artificial additives

How does Green Lipped Mussel Powder work?

New Zealand Green Lipped Mussels contain glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) as well as high levels of unsaturated fatty acids. Animals are often not capable of producing the required quantities of GAGs on their own, and so the supplementation of GAGs provides long-term benefits to support joints and tendons.

Green Lipped Mussels also contain a fatty acid called ETA, which decreases the production of cyclooxygenase, an enzyme causing inflammation. This results in less pain, less inflammation, and improved mobility for your pet.

The mussels are also a rich source of glucosamine and chondroitin, vitamins C and E, antioxidants, and minerals such as copper, zinc, and selenium, all of which are vital to your pet’s joint health.

Our Green Lipped Mussels come from a licensed marine farm in New Zealand. There, the mussels are processed as a whole by gentle freeze-drying. This process ensures that the original nutrients are almost completely preserved. We are not extracting any powder obtained, so that our product retains a higher fat content of 8%. A high fat content is considered a quality feature, as it also ensures high content of essential omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which is what makes our Green Lipped Mussel powder so effective. This product is free from any artificial additives, fillers or cereals.

Benefits of Rose Hip Powder:

✔ Aids the body’s immune system

✔ Supports healthy joints and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties

✔ Studies have shown that rose hip can alleviate pain and improve daily activity levels*

✔ Gentle processing combined with a high husk content results in a high-quality product

✔ 100% natural, free from artificial additives

How does Rose Hip Powder work?

Rose Hip Powder has many positive effects on the well-being of our pets. It contains a high level of vitamin C, which is important for the body’s defences and promotes good blood circulation. Due to its collagen synthesis, rose hip has aiding properties, making it a valuable supplement for joint support.

Rose Hip is a true superfruit and particularly rich in important nutrients such as vitamins A, E, K, B1, B2, B3, B6 and especially vitamin C, as well as pectins and tannins, contributing to your animal’s performance and vitality.

Gentle processing and purely natural raw materials combined with an ideal ratio of pulp to kernel make AniForte Rose Hip Powder a product of the highest quality. It has a high level of acceptance and can easily be mixed into daily feed.

Move well with MoveWellia®

Advanced joint care for dogs experiencing joint health challenges, including stiffness and ‘slowing-up’. MoveWellia® has been expertly formulated with vets to deliver powerful joint support to maintain comfort and mobility:

  •  Boswellia: Its primary active compounds are boswellic acids, which support natural anti-inflammatory pathways in the body, making it great for dogs that are prone to inflammatory joint conditions. MoveWellia® includes boswellia which contains 90% boswellic acids, for optimal effect.
  •  Celery Seed: Containing active compounds that include polysaccharides and antioxidants, this power herb improves joint comfort by supporting good blood circulation to joints and connective tissue repair processes.
  •  Glucosamine hydrochloride: Produced naturally in the body, this amino sugar cushions the joints to maintain comfort and mobility. Glucosamine production reduces as dogs age, resulting in weaker joint cartilage and increased risk of joint discomfort.
  •  Chondroitin: As one of the essential building blocks of joint cartilage, chondroitin ensures the elasticity of cartilage, which is essential for joint shock absorption. Supplementation helps keep cartilage hydrated and supple, strengthening joint function.
  •  Vitamin C: Increasingly recognised as an important component of natural anti-inflammatory pathways, Vitamin C also helps maintain the health of collagen – a key component of the joint support structures.
  •  Zinc: Recognised as a key mineral deficiency in some inflammatory joint conditions, supplementation can help improve joint comfort.
  •  Hyaluronic acid: A naturally occurring gel-like substance, hyaluronic acid is an important component of joint fluid, which lubricates the joint, promoting mobility.

Why MoveWellia®?

  •  Advanced formulation: A unique blend of natural active compounds with joint supportive properties, including the joint health super-star, Boswellia.
  •  Advanced support: Naturally eases stiff joints and supports natural anti-inflammatory pathways in the body, to help maintain comfort and mobility.
  •  Ethical and sustainable ingredients: At Dorwest we only use the highest quality ingredients, which are always from sustainable sources and ethically harvested.
  •  Expertly formulated with vets: For maximum effect and quality.
  •  Easy to give: With small sized tablets, MoveWellia® is easy to give to even the fussiest dog.
  •  Great value: High strength formulation which only costs £0.50 per day for a 25kg dog (at maintenance amounts)
  •  Manufactured to the highest standards: Our products are all produced to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards (the standards which are used for the manufacture of medicines). We carry out extensive testing, from raw ingredient, through the production process to end product, to guarantee quality and consistency.

What is Boswellia?

Boswellia is derived from the resin of the Boswellia serrata tree, native to India. Here it has had a long history of use in Ayurvedic medicine, thanks to its joint supportive properties. Its primary active compounds are boswellic acids, which support natural anti-inflammatory pathways in the body. By supporting the natural processes that reduce inflammation, Boswellia can help promote joint comfort and mobility – making it a great choice for dogs that are experiencing joint health challenges.

There are several studies showing the benefits of using Boswellia to help ease joint problems in dogs, and studies in multiple species have shown that Boswellia has a good safety profile.

The Boswellia in MoveWellia® has been tested, with levels of boswellic acids guaranteed to be 90%, giving you a formulation you can trust. Used daily, this natural joint super-ingredient can help get your dog’s movement back to its best.

Does my dog need a joint supplement?

The answer is likely ‘yes’. All dogs, regardless of age or breed, will experience wear and tear on their joints throughout their lives. This this can lead to joint problems in the future, causing pain and stiffness.

Some dogs are also just more prone to joint issues due to developmental abnormalities or previous injury. This is why our range has been especially developed to provide support for all dogs, because it’s never too early (or late!) to start looking after your dog’s joints.

High quality turmeric extract containing 95% curcuminoids, with added piperine for increased absorption

Our specially formulated Turmeric Tablets for dogs and cats are made using a pure and potent extract. Consisting of 95% curcuminoids – the active part of turmeric – they can help support your pet’s natural anti-inflammatory processes.

This may be of particular benefit to pets with troublesome joints. Extracted from whole root and with added Bioperin® (black pepper extract) to help boost absorption, you can be sure that our supplement has maximised quality and bioavailability.

What is turmeric?

Turmeric is the latest wonder herb from Southern India and is in the same family of herbs as ginger. The rhizome is the part of the plant that is eaten – this is the underground, horizontal stem, commonly termed the root.

The therapeutic actions of turmeric have widely been attributed to compounds it contains called curcuminoids. There are three main curcuminoids but the most common and well known is curcumin, which makes up 80% of the total curcuminoids in turmeric. However, curcuminoids only account for 2-6% of the root’s content and the whole root provides activities superior to curcumin alone. By taking supplements created using the whole root you get a whole host of other benefits from all the other compounds that make up turmeric, as well as the curcuminoids.

What are the benefits of using turmeric?

Historically, turmeric is well known for its naturally supportive properties in anti-inflammatory processes. There are likely to be many other benefits to taking turmeric though and studies are ongoing to discover them, so watch this space! Why Dorwest Turmeric Tablets?

Easy to absorb

Unfortunately, the bioavailability of curcumin has been found to be low. This is the proportion of curcumin that can be absorbed and enter the blood circulation following ingestion, which can then have active effects on the body.

Luckily, we have a solution though – by adding in a compound found naturally in black pepper called piperine (Bioperine®) the bioavailability of curcumin is increased. In fact, one study has found that taking piperine along with curcumin can increase its bioavailability by 2000%!

Standardised, traceable and sustainable

With the popularity of turmeric soaring there are unfortunately those wanting to make a ‘quick buck’ by selling low-quality produce. Turmeric has even been found to be mixed with other ingredients and artificially coloured. Good quality turmeric and curcumin supplements for dogs and cats will contain a standardised amount of curcuminoids of 95%. Our Turmeric Tablets were made with this in mind and contain 95% curcuminoids, with each tablet providing 175mg of whole root turmeric extract, equivalent to 7175mg dry whole root.

Our Turmeric Tablets are fully traceable and vigorously tested from source to end product to ensure a pure and consistent high quality. We only use sustainable sources, opting for turmeric grown using traditional small farming methods in Southern India, as our impact on the environment and local communities is very important to us here at Dorwest.

We know it might be tempting to use turmeric you see on the supermarket shelves but the turmeric we use for our dogs and cats must be of medicinal quality; culinary turmeric is produced for taste, not the quality of the curcuminoid compounds.

Is turmeric safe to give?

Turmeric is thought amongst herbalists to be a very safe herb but it is important to discuss its use with your vet before you give it to your pet, especially if they are taking any medication or about to undergo elective surgery. It’s important to note that turmeric reportedly has anti-coagulant properties which could exacerbate clotting disorders.
