Naturally reduce your pet’s stress or anxiety with no drowsiness
We know it can be stressful to experience and manage your pet’s anxiety but we’re here to help, every step of the way. Our Scullcap & Valerian Tablets help to naturally relax your pet, with the active herbs naturally supporting the calming pathways within the nervous system, reducing anxiety without immobilising muscles or causing drowsiness. They don’t make pets dopey or wobbly – in fact they are widely used for agility and show dogs when they need to be alert and focussed, but calm.
One of our best-sellers, Scullcap & Valerian Tablets help tackle stress, fear and anxiety, whatever the cause, so you and your pet can relax, no matter what.
How do these tablets work?
The specially selected ingredients in our Scullcap & Valerian Tablets work together to help tackle stress, fear and anxiety in your pet:
- Valerian – helps to support the natural relaxant pathways within the nervous system, without affecting muscles.
- Scullcap – contains a number of valuable compounds including those which bind to the GABA receptor and reduce anxiety.
- Mistletoe – helps to support the natural calming pathways within the nervous system and helps circulation.
- Gentian – supports the other natural active compounds and helps maintain normal liver function.

There are no quick fixes when it comes to successfully helping your dog to manage their anxiety or fears for the long-term. Often, gentle and consistent behavioural work and training are required to help them to respond more positively to stressful situations, which takes time. This process is likely to be more effective when your dog is more relaxed, and this is where Scullcap & Valerian Tablets can help.
When do I need to start giving the tablets?
Our Scullcap & Valerian Tablets should be given daily, ideally splitting the recommended daily amount in two, to give half in the morning and half in the evening.
For best results, we advise that Scullcap & Valerian Tablets are used every day for a minimum of three weeks, ideally alongside gentle and consistent behavioural work and training. By reducing anxiety levels to more manageable levels, our Scullcap & Valerian Tablets increase the likelihood that your pet will be more responsive to this training.
For ‘one-off’ stressful events, our Valerian Compound is a great short-term, quicker-acting option and can also be used alongside Scullcap & Valerian Tablets for a top-up, if needed.

How does Valerian Compound work?
Valerian helps to support the natural relaxant pathways within the nervous system, without affecting muscles. It doesn’t make pets dopey or sleepy – in fact it is widely used for agility and show dogs when they need to be alert and focussed, but calm.
The concentrated herbal extracts used in this liquid ensure that within just 30 minutes a noticeable change in behaviour occurs without causing drowsiness and the effects are quite short lived. In situations that have a longer duration then we recommend also giving Scullcap and Valerian Tablets.
When faced with unexpected events like thunderstorms, Valerian Compound has a fast action and it can also be used in conjunction with Scullcap and Valerian Tablets in especially fearful situations and for anxious animals.
What can Valerian Compound be used for?
Phobias and nervous disorders can be really hard to deal with – both for pets and from their owners’ perspectives. Widely used as a treatment for noise phobias and fears associated with fireworks, thunder and gunfire, as well as for general excitability and hyperactivity, this herbal medicine is one of our best sellers. Popular for use in travel-related anxiety and also for territorial urine spraying in cats. Buy your supply of Scullcap and Valerian Tablets well in advance of fireworks night (there’s often huge demand around this time).
Many situations can be worrying for our pets causing fear and anxiety. Valerian Compound can be used for:
- fireworks
- thunderstorms
- travelling
- showing
- going into kennels
- visiting the vets.
Valerian Compound acts quickly, helping you and your pet get through these events stress-free. It can also be used to restore calm in hyperactive pets.
Top-Tip: Try putting a few drops on a cloth on your pet’s bed to help them relax, cats especially love this.
Will it sedate my dog?
They are not sedatives, in fact these are widely used for performance dogs such as agility and show dogs when they need to be alert and focussed. The herbs are nervines, that means they help to naturally relax the nervous system which reduces anxiety yet does not sedate muscles.
Can I use the tablets and liquid together?
Scullcap & Valerian used daily provides better coverage and is ideal to start using in the lead up to Fireworks Night so they are already nice and relaxed before the scary noises start.
Valerian Compound is quicker-acting and is perfect to use orally as a top-up and for unpredicted events such as a neighbours having a fireworks display or a thunder storm. It is ideal to put a few drops on a cloth on their bed to help them relax, cats love this especially.
When do I need to start giving the products?
The more severe the phobia, the earlier you should start, up to a month in some cases. For moderate phobias, start around 10 days before the predicted worst night. However, even if you only start the day or so before your dog will still benefit.
What dosage/administration should I use?
Valerian Compound the administration is 1/4 tsp for small dogs and cats, 1/2 tsp for medium dogs, 1tsp for large dogs and 1.5tsp for Giant breeds. May be given as required, it is not recommended that more than two administrations of the stated amount are given in a 24 hours period.
